About NSW Taxi Council

The NSW Taxi Council are a member based organisation and peak body for the NSW Taxi Industry that advocates across all platforms from media and public liaisons, government relations, secure ranks security funding, distributing information and the applications and training for new taxi drivers in NSW. From November 1, 2017 the Point to Point Transport Regulations 2017 came into effect and the NSW Taxi Council has developed a Safety Management System and Training Program in place for all new drivers in NSW. They must undergo strict criminal history checks, english speaking and navigating tests, customer service requirements and driver fatigue management in order to even begin working on NSW roads as a registered NSW Taxi Driver through the NSW Taxi Council.

  • Driver ID Application - Step 1

    What you need to bring to your appointment at NSW Taxi Council;

    Your NSW driver licence; This must be valid and unrestricted. You must have a PTP condition on your NSW Driver Licence. Your passport (must not be expired) or a birth certificate (must be in English); If the name on your passport or birth certificate is different to your driver licence, you also need to bring a Change of Name Certificate from NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages; A credit card to pay the on boarding consultation fee of $110.00 AU – either a Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card. You cannot pay by cash, personal or bank cheques. This card must be in your name or the card owner must be also present.

  • Driver Training - Step 2

    You must complete the Driver ID Application Consultation before you can undergo training. If you have undergone your Driver ID Consultation you would of received information about the Training Day. If not, please contact NSW Taxi Council on 0293321266
